Service Story
In May 1918 William Penno was called up. At the time he was working as a miner. His time in the military was relatively short lived being discharged in December 1918 and his file marked ‘surplus to military requirements’ hostilities have finished. In 1921 he married. In 1928 the family which by now consisted of William, his wife and two children emigrated to Australia settling in Launceston. A third daughter was born later. The family settled in Campbell Town where he died on 3 November 1951.
