Service Story
Private Maurice Walch was a blacksmith from Battery Paint, Hobart. He was born in Ireland and later moved to Tasmania, Australia. A widow, Maurice left behind two children when he enlisted with the AIF on the 25th April, 1917. He was 44 years of age at the time. He embarked from Sydney on the 14th of June 1917 on the HMAT Hororata A2D. He served in the 12th Battalion, in England and France.
