Service Story
Enlisted on 3 October 1916 and allotted to 40th Battalion. He spent one day less than a month with the battalion at the front before he was wounded in action at Messines on 7 June 1917 sustaining a gunshot wound to his right leg. Although his service record states it was slight it seems it was serious enough to have him returned to Australia two months later.
