Service Story

While the SS Zealandic was on her way to England, the armistice was signed bringing hostilities to a halt. On board was Francis Parry and 18 year old single labourer from Deloraine and had spent 4 years with the cadets as was required. Parry arrived in England on 5 December and made sure that he saw some of the countryside even without the necessary pass and fell foul of the military authorities. He returned to Australia in February 1920. The following year he married Vera Kernan. The couple later moved to Launceston where he worked as a labourer.
