Enlisted 18 July 1916 and allotted to 22nd reinforcements for 12th Battalion. Wounded in action on September 1917 in third battle for Ypres sustaining a shrapnel wound to right shoulder. Re-joined battalion in March 1918. Wounded in action on 2nd occasion on 18 September at Epéhy sustaining a gunshot wound to neck. After treatment at Netley was returned to Australia for discharge in January 1919.
