On June 27th, 2021, the Headstone Project in conjunction with the Macclesfield RSL unveiled and dedicated the Headstones of two veterans of WWI.
Alexander Mallinson was an AIF medic assigned to the 3rd Australian General Hospital. He served in Egypt, Mudros (treating Gallipoli wounded), England and France.
Jane Mallinson (nee Sweeney) MiD was a nurse in the Australian Army Nursing Corps and served in Egypt, England and France. She was assigned to the 2nd Australian General Hospital. She escorted badly wounded soldiers from England back to Australia, before returning to the theatre of war in France. It was while nursing in France that she met the man who was to later become her husband.
The service was attended by family members including the 95 year old Andrew Bray, a nephew of Jane Mallinson. Paul Lemar, Public Officer with the Macclesfield RSL led the service, and dignitaries who attended included;
