Was Archie Summers another like Jack Stevens who was anxious to serve and in order to do so lied about his age at least if not other details? Without a birth registration it is hard to know. The image of Archie Summers shows a very young looking soldier!
Archie enlisted in April 1918 and was allotted to the 1st to 3rd Reinforcements that left Sydney in June 1918. He stated that he had spent 12 months with the cadets but later moved to an exempt area. Whilst undergoing training at Fovant, England he was allotted to the 12th Battalion, but remained in England leaving there on 12 April 1919.
Post war Archie moved to Victoria where he later married. In October 1942 he volunteered for service again serving with the 7 Australian Ordinance Stores Company until January 1944.
