Private William Roberts |
12th Battalion |
|
William Roberts was born and raised in England. His mother was still living there In 1918. One hopes that he at least visited her and maybe she even attended his wedding in September 1919. Despite being allotted to the 12th Battalion, William Roberts remained in England, attached to A.I.F. Headquarters and promoted to the rank of a temporary lance corporal. On embarking for Australia he reverted to the rank of private. After that William Roberts drops out of sight from the records until his death in September 1940 at the Waterfall Sanitorium in New South Wales. At which time it is stated he has no friends and no next of kin.
